Make sure you always walk away with an opportunity—even if you don't get an intro

You get introduced to someone. You two seem like a perfect match as referral partners.
But then, nothing. You don’t get any intro’s. Just crickets. 🦗
Ever experience this?
👉 This is why your networking strategy cannot be solely dependent on getting introductions. Because, it might not happen.
That’s why if you followed Step 2: Segment (see Part 1), doing Step 3: Plan next steps is critical so that you’ll always walk away from your meet-and-greet with an opportunity.
Meeting with a potential customer? I assume you know how to handle this.
Meeting with a potential referral partner? This is where most people make their mistake.
They usually only ask for 2 things from referral partners:
1) Exchange names or intro’s
2) Recommend groups to visit
Which means, they’re missing out on these opportunities:
3) Cross-promote each other’s newsletters
4) Cross-promote each other’s events
5) Collab in a virtual webinar
6) Collab in an in-person event
So for your next meet-and-greet with a referral partner, make you present ALL the options.
This is how you make sure you always walk-away from the meeting with opportunities—even if they don’t give you an intro.
